Match Recap

The Hornets came out firing to start the game, with freshman goalkeeper Tatum Trout needing to make a save within the first minute.

Over the next 20 minutes, the T-Birds flipped the game and sustained pressure in the attacking third.

In the 40th minute, Ashlyn O'Malley found herself with a lot of space around midfield and flew up the left side. A clever move got her past a Hornets defender, and O'Malley was able to send a ball across the box, and Halle Cowan came sliding in to smash the ball into the back of the net.

SUU took a 1-0 lead into the break.

In the 60th minute, Sac State found the equalizer off the foot of Candace Ching. Just three minutes later, Ching finished an absolute beauty of a volley and put the Hornets on top for good.

SUU created plenty of chances over the next 30 minutes but couldn't find the equalizer.

Statistical Recap

SUU had nine total shots with Cowan leading the way at two. Karolina Jasaityte was the only other Thunderbird with a shot on goal.

Freshman keeper Tatum Trout finished the game with six saves on 11 total shots faced.

Rylan Tebbs and Nao Yasuda each played the full 90 minutes.

The Thunderbirds earned two corners and drew 12 fouls.
