Nate Houle returned to Southern Utah University in 2012 to serve as an assistant coach after having served in a similar capacity at Georgia State University during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

While at GSU, Houle helped guide the Panthers to the school's first outdoor track & field conference title in 2011 while coaching a pair of student-athletes to first-team all-conference accolades in the 1,500-meters. Houle graduated from GSU with a Master's Degree in exercise/physiology with his thesis on Fatigue Resistance between Male and Female Distance Runners.

Prior to GSU, Houle was a member of the SUU cross country and track & field teams, helping the Thunderbirds to a Summmit League title during the 2009 outdoor and 2008 cross country seasons. In addition, Houle advanced to the NCAA West Regionals in 2009 as a member of the conference champion 4x400-meter relay team, finishing fifth at the meet.

Houle and his wife, Kacee, have one son, Ames. The family resides in Cedar City.
