Jonas Tanzer

Jonas Tanzer is in his second season as an assistant coach for the Southern Utah women's soccer team.

Tanzer came to Cedar City from the state of Washington where he served as associate head coach of the women's soccer team at Pacific Lutheran University from 2016-2017. During his time at PLU, the Lutes were back-to-back Northwest Conference Champions and made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2016 and 2017. Tanzer was in charge of goalkeeper training activities, using SportsCode Pro and Gamebreaker to perform video analysis, and planning elite training sessions for players during his time as associate head coach.

Tanzer also served as Technical Director and Girls Director for the Washington Premier Football Club where he developed new player development plans for players from six to 19 years old. He also served as the head coach for ECNL 00, ECNL 02, and Boys 99. Before becoming Technical Director in 2017, Tanzer served as Goalkeeper Director for WPFC in 2016.

Originally from Sweden, Tanzer spent time coaching in his home country from 2009 to 2015. He served as assistant coach for IFK Norrköping Allsvenskan and both the boys and girls Swedish Youth National Teams. Tanzer also served as the Director of Goalkeeping and the head coach of the U-18 Boys Team at ÖFF, a Swedish olympic development program, and held multiple titles at Smedby AIS.

Before launching his coaching career, Tanzer had an illustrious playing career as a professional and collegiate athlete. He was a three-time All-Conference First Team athlete for the Pacific Lutheran men's soccer team, played for the SIK Swedish DIV III semi-professional team from 1993-1997 and 2001-2002, and played for three different professional teams including the Seattle Sounders Select PDL from 1998-2000.
