Before SUU: Played two years at Salt Lake Community College and one year at Missouri State … helped the Bruins of SLCC to a 28-8 record as a sophomore and led the team with 547 digs, averaging 4.27 per set … appeared in 25 matches at MSU, tallying 158 digs, 15 aces, three kills and 30 assists.

Prep: Four-year letter winner at Lone Peak High School … first-team all-state, Salt Lake Tribune 5A MVP and 5A state tournament MVP as a senior … played club for Utah Peak Performance … helped the Knights to a pair to back-to-back state titles in 2007 and 2008.

Personal: Parents are Andrew and Wealtha Burgess … three brothers all played collegiate athletics, including Amos (baseball, Southern Utah University, Sam (basketball, Brigham Young University) and Billy (baseball, Utah Valley University) … father, Andrew, also played football and baseball at BYU ... majoring in psychology.
