Lorelle Hoyer

Lorelle Hoyer was brought on staff at Southern Utah in Spring of 2018. With extensive experience in junior’s volleyball and strong relationships with club programs throughout the country Lorelle serves as an Volunteer Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, as well as working in Academic Affairs as a Learning Specialist/Acadmic Coordinator.

Before joining the Thunderbird program, Lorelle was the Volunteer Director of Volleyball Operations at the University of Texas San Antonio, where she’d collaborate with the marketing team and game operations staff to help home contests run smoothly, assist with team travel and create recruiting materials. While in Texas she also served as an Assistant Program Coordinator for the Alamo Volleyball Association, where she assisted in organizational development and overall technical training for the club.

Before her stint in Texas, Lorelle served as a full-time Assistant Director for Triangle Volleyball Club, in Raleigh, NC. At Triangle she handled large scale travel, marketing, social media and supported on court training at multiple age and skill levels as both head coach and assistant. She also served two seasons as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Division I North Carolina Central prior to joining Triangle.

In addition to her responsibilities with the volleyball team, Lorelle serves as a Learning Specialist within academic support for athletics. Lorelle's main role will be supporting student-athletes in their journey to reach the highest level of academic success. Specifically, she will be working one-on-one with high-risk student-athletes. She will help student-athletes identify their barriers to success and create individualized plans that allow them to excel in the classroom while also connecting them to additional resources throughout the university.

Lorelle is a graduate of the University of Connecticut (UConn) where she was multi-year letter winner before injury side-lined her for her final two seasons. A native of Minnesota, Lorelle has a background in non-profit education where she flourished in fundraising, volunteer management, creative education planning and organizational development before re-joining the volleyball community.
