Quintin Ward, originally from Provo, Utah, enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Southern Utah University Women’s Volleyball program.
Ward joins the Thunderbirds after spending two seasons as First Assistant Coach with the University of Charleston Men’s Volleyball program under Head Coach Robert Poole. During his time with the Golden Eagles, Charleston competed at the NCAA Division I level in the EIVA Conference and earned postseason appearances in both seasons. The program achieved a historic road victory over Penn State, marking the first win over the Nittany Lions in program history. In his second season, Charleston advanced to the EIVA Semifinals and pushed eventual conference champion Penn State to five sets, the furthest postseason run in program history.
At Charleston, Ward played a major role in scouting, player development, match preparation, travel coordination, budgeting, recruiting support, and day to day program operations. He also contributed to team culture through his interest in sports psychology and mental performance, helping shape athlete development and team discussions.
Ward began his coaching career in 2019 as an assistant coach for girls club volleyball at Club Elevate under the mentorship of his father, Bob Ward. He later transitioned to boys club volleyball at Club V Sports, leading U15 and U18 teams that competed at the national level. In addition to club coaching, Ward has spent the past five years coaching camps around the country with Gold Medal Squared, working with athletes of all ages and skill levels.
At the high school level, Ward served as the junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant at Mountain View High School, helping establish Utah boys volleyball during its early years, including participation in the state’s first sanctioned boys volleyball match in 2024. The program later captured the 2025–26 state championship.
As a player, Ward competed as a libero at Utah Valley University in the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation, playing in both the SCCVL and MWVBC conferences. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2023 and completed a Master of Business Data Analytics at the University of Charleston, combining interests in athlete development, mental performance, and analytics.
Outside of coaching, Ward enjoys outdoor volleyball, watching soccer, following the AVP and FIVB tours, and coaching around the country during the summer.
