Southern Utah University Athletics

Shane Tye is entering his second season for the Thunderbirds under the direction of head coach Craig Choate. He was hired before the start of the 2016 season.

Before making his way to Southern Utah, Tye was at the University of Utah where he was a practice coordinator for the Utes. Tye used his time in the Pac-12 as a learning experience and brought that knowledge to Cedar City.

Prior to his time at Utah, Tye was a lead coach for Gold Medal Squared, which is a volleyball clinic where he taught fundamentals of volleyball to all different age groups.

Tye played volleyball for Brigham Young University. He competed for the Cougars after graduating from Taylorsville High School where he was a three-time All-State performer.  

Tye graduated from BYU in 2013 with a degree in exercise and wellness.
