Tyler Strickland brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to his role as the new Assistant Coach for Southern Utah University's volleyball program. With a dynamic background that spans both coaching and playing at various levels, Tyler is poised to make a significant impact on the team.
Tyler's coaching journey began at A4 Volleyball Club in 2014, where he dedicated a decade to nurturing talent and building successful programs. His commitment to development was evident as he coached every age level, playing a pivotal role in expanding the girl's program from 6 to an impressive 26 teams. Additionally, Tyler spearheaded the establishment of the club's boys' side and served as its director, guiding it to substantial growth with ten competitive teams. Under his leadership, the boys' team achieved remarkable success, clinching 3rd place at the prestigious nationals for two consecutive years in the highly competitive Open Division.
Before delving into coaching, Tyler honed his skills as a volleyball player from a young age, displaying a natural talent and passion for the sport. His journey as a player took him to Irvine Valley College, where he showcased his prowess on the court, earning recognition as the league MVP during his tenure.
Beyond his collegiate experience, Tyler's dedication to volleyball transcended borders. He ventured into the realm of High-Performance volleyball, where he not only excelled as a coach but also as a player. His global tournament triumphs, including a notable victory against teams from China and other international regions, underscore his prowess and strategic acumen in the sport.
