Thunderbirds Fall 1-0 in Blustery Game at South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. - Oct. 5 - Southern Utah women's soccer dropped a 1-0 decision at South Dakota State on Sunday afternoon in a match that included rain and 15-20 mile-per-hour winds.  The loss dropped the Thunderbirds to 3-7-0 (1-2-0 Summit) while the Jackrabbits remain unbeaten in conference with a 4-0-0 record and an 8-3-0 record overall.

"We were up against a very good opponent today," head coach Brian Stock said after the match.  "Our defense kept us in this game.  We just struggled to connect on passes on the attack.  We had 90 minutes of effort, but we lacked the quality minutes that we need to win."

SDSU's Erin Kasmarik scored the only goal of the match in the 30th minute with the assist credited to Kayla Braffet and Danielle Healy.

Southern Utah was on the low end of the shots tally with South Dakota State recording 24 to the Thunderbirds' two.  SUU keeper Sutton Fox kept the T-Birds in the game with eight saves.

Southern Utah will be back in action this weekend when SUU hosts the Westminster Griffins in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness game.  Donations for the game are already being collected by going to www.komendonations.org/goto/suusoccer.
