CEDAR CITY, Utah - Nov. 21 - Ryan Brimley paced Southern Utah with 21 points and was one of three Thunderbirds in double figures as SUU handed Wayland Baptist a 79-61 loss on Saturday night.  The victory moves the T-Birds to 3-2 on the year while the Pioneers drop to 3-3.

WBU put the first lights on the scoreboard as Rodrigo Silva connected on the second of two free throws, but it would prove to be the first and only lead for the Pioneers during the night.  The Thunderbirds had their first double-digit lead of the first half as Brimley connected on one of his five 3-point field goals during the contest to put the home team up 22-11 with 8:44 on the clock.  A Brimley layup with 19 seconds in the first half punctuated Southern Utah scoring during the first 20 minutes and gave the T-Birds their largest lead during the first stanza as SUU carried a 39-18 advantage into the break.

SUU continued to widen the gap over the first five minutes of the second half as Davis Baker buried a 3-point shot to put the Thunderbirds up 52-24 with 15:39 to play in the game.  The 20-point margin continued to hold through most of the final half as the T-Birds connected on 52.2-percent shooting.  The Pioneers closed the waning minute of the game with a layup and free throw to cut the final score to 79-61 when the whistle blew.

Brimley led the T-Birds with his 21 points, but was joined in double figures by Baker and Massey with 18 and ten, respectively.  Baker led the team with seven rebounds, while freshman Matt Hodgson led the team with four blocked shots.  WBU's Rishi Kakad led all scorers with a game-high 29 points and was the only Pioneer in double figures.

Southern Utah will stay at home during its next contest when the Thunderbirds host Tennessee Tech the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  Tip-off on Nov. 25 is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
