LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Sept. 26 - Southern Utah women's soccer was down 1-0 before the two-minute mark at UNLV on Saturday afternoon and ended up losing the game 2-0 as a pair of Rebel goals in the first half spelled defeat for the Thunderbirds. The loss drops the T-Birds to 2-6-1 on the year with UNLV moving to 3-3-4.
UNLV found the back of the net quickly as Brianna Moore's header off a Dani Morin cross marked the first goal for the Rebels, only 92 seconds into the game. UNLV struck again in the 40th minute as a Jamie McCoy cross caught the leg of Jenna Larkin, taking a high bounce over SUU keeper Briana Fitzgerald and into the goal.
Neither team scored in the second half as Southern Utah found itself behind in the shot tally, 23 to 4 on the game. Fitzgerald finished the game with six saves while Emily Belnap led the team with two shots during the afternoon.
Southern Utah will be back in action this weekend when the Thunderbirds open Summit League play with road games at IPFW and Oakland. Game time in Fort Wayne, Ind. is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (ET) with the game in Rochester, Mich. set to kick-off at 1:00 p.m. (ET)
