Les
Olson Company, in conjunction with the Southern Utah University athletic
department, is sponsoring a food drive to benefit the residents of Iron County.
The drive begins Monday and will run through the week. Participants in the
drive will have the opportunity to win tickets to a Utah Jazz home game.
The
food drive, which will be coordinated through the Iron County Care and Share
Food Bank, will be held in conjunction with the SUU vs. Dixie State football
game on Nov. 6. Donation barrels for non-perishable food items will be located
at the SUU athletic department, located in the Harris Center at 1150 West 200
South; and at Les Olson Company's Cedar City location, 2150 West Highway 56.
Game-day donation barrels will be
located next to the hospitality tent located at the southwest end of Eccles
Coliseum on Nov. 6. An Iron County Care
& Share food truck will also be located in the west parking lot of Eccles
Coliseum to collect donations on game day. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring food or cash donations to
the game. Cash donations will be accepted in the form of a check by the Iron
County Care and Share at the game or prior to the game at Les Olson Company, and
the SUU athletic department. Checks should be made out to Iron County Care and
Share.
Accepted
food items include canned and packaged goods in original packaging.
Items must be in good condition with original food label up to one year past
sell-by-date on package.
Les
Olson Company is a proud sponsor of the Southern Utah Thunderbirds and a game
sponsor for the Dixie State football game. Each person that donates food or cash throughout the week and at the game
will be entered in a drawing to win tickets to a Utah Jazz home game. Throughout the SUU football
season fans have been able to participate in promotions to enter their name in
a drawing to win a Sharp Aquos TV. The winner of the TV, as well as the winner
of the tickets to the Jazz game, will be announced at halftime of the football
game.
"The
Food Bank meets the immediate, basic needs of people in our community who have
no other place to turn", Ray A. Sim, executive director of the Iron County
Care & Share Food Bank, said.
Winning
tickets to a Jazz game is great, but service is even more rewarding, especially
when it goes to a cause that you believe in, such as helping those in need. For
