GEORGE, Utah, March 23 - Southern Utah's women's golf team fired its worst
round of the tournament but still held on to 12th place at the BYU
Classic at Entrada on Tuesday. The Thunderbirds shot 345 Tuesday after rounds
of 316 and 329 on Monday but still finished 12 stokes ahead of 13th-place
Weber State, which finished at 1,002.
Sadie Palmer led the way for SUU with a 25th-place finish after shooting
78 on Tuesday for a three-round total 234. Kacy Buckner was second among
T-Birds in 57th place at 250, followed by Morgan Kerber in 63rd
at 254, Jamie Coking in 66th at 257 and Brittany Edwards in 72nd
at 265. SUU's Mikayla Williamson, playing as an individual, finished 70th at
264.
Brigham
Young's Maggie Yuan led the tournament from start to finish after carding a 76
in the final round for a final total of 2-under par 214.
San
Diego State won the team competition by 15 strokes over second place
Louisville. SDSU finished at 890, followed by Louisville (905), Nebraska (921)
and Colorado State (922).
The
tournament was played at 6,001 yards over the par 72 Entrada at Snow Canyon
course.
