CEDAR CITY, Utah - Sept. 22 - Southern Utah women's volleyball will head back out on the road this weekend, resuming Summit League play with road contests at IPFW and Oakland.

“This will be a tough road trip for us this weekend,” head coach Debby Baker said.  “It will be very important for our team that we come out with the same intensity that we showed against Oral Roberts and Centenary and not our effort on Tuesday night.”

The Thunderbirds will enter the weekend with an overall record of 5-7 and winners of three of their last four games, including a three-game winning streak over South Dakota State, Centenary and Oral Roberts.

Southern Utah's attack has been paced by Analaine Pelaez, the reigning Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, as the sophomore has racked up a team-best 171 kills on a team-high 459 attempts.  Pelaez is currently ranked first in the Summit League with 4.17 kills per set, including a 5.21 kills per set average during conference play.

Senior setter Brittney Clark has led the Thunderbird attack all season, tallying a team-high 423 assists and is also ranked first in the Summit League with 10.32 assists per set.  Clark is also leads the conference during league games with 11.93 assists per set.

Caitlin Jensen continues to lead the team in digs, keeping the ball in play on the defensive side of the net, with a team-best 141.  Jensen is in the top ten of the league with 3.44 digs per set overall and 3.50 digs per set during league games.  Cashaana Renfro leads the team in blocks with 32, including a team-best 29 block assists.

Southern Utah is currently in second place in the Summit League standings.  The Thunderbirds are tied with Oral Roberts with matching 3-1 marks in conference play with IPFW and Oakland only a single game back in third place with 2-1 records.
