CEDAR CITY, Utah — Southern Utah outside hitter Kaitlyn Hoelker was named to the All-WAC Freshman Team on Wednesday, Nov. 19, the conference announced. The recognition marks the first postseason honor of her SUU career and highlights a breakout season for one of the Thunderbirds' youngest contributors.

Kaitlyn Hoelker Makes Immediate Impact

Hoelker emerged as one of the most reliable freshmen in the WAC, giving Southern Utah steady offensive production and energy throughout the year. She became a key piece of SUU's rotation early in the season and continued to excel throughout conference play. Hoelker provided a reliable scoring option and consistent contributions on defense. Her ability to compete at a high level early in her career makes her one of the league's most impactful first-year players.

Season Highlights

• Finished the year with 158 kills.
• Added 123 digs and 32 blocks.
• Tied her season high three times with 13 kills against Tarleton State, UC San Diego, and Texas Tech.
• Recorded five matches with double-digit kills.
• Appeared in all 23 matches.

Team and Season Context

Southern Utah leaned heavily on a reconstructed core this season, and Hoelker played a central role in helping the Thunderbirds build momentum throughout conference play. She helped lay a foundation for SUU's growth and will continue to play a major role as the program moves forward.
