CEDAR CITY, Utah, Jan. 31 – Eleven Southern Utah University football players have earned all-Great West Conference honors, the conference announced today.
The list includes three seniors, five juniors, two sophomores and one redshirt freshman.
Senior
Tysson Poots was named the the squad for the fourth time, while fellow seniors Brigham Nielson and
Trent Barney earned their second and first honors, respectively.
Juniors
Blake Fenn,
Zack Olsen,
Trevor Schauerhamer and
Erron Vonner earned their second awards, while
Brock Christensen, another junior, earned his first.
Sophomores earning the award include
Cody Larsen and Russell Peterson, while redshirt freshman
Brad Meyer also was named to the team. Meyer was one of 14 athletes in the conference who compiled a 4.0 GPA and was the only football player to post a perfect GPA.
To be named to the academic All-Great West squad an athlete must have participated in at least 50 percent of a team's contests. First-year students and transfer students in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
