WORLEY, Idaho, Sept. 12 - Southern Utah freshman Monica
Jung was in fifth place at five over par 149 after the first day at Gonzaga's
Circling Raven Invitational Monday. She shot rounds of 75 and 74 over the
6,111-yard, par 72 Circling Raven course.
As a team SUU was in 18th place in the 22-team
field, at 640, two shots behind Montana State and Weber State but well behind
second-round leader Washington State, which was at 605.
Jung was nine shots off the pace of Seattle's Caitlin
McCleary, who led at four-under par 140 after back-t-back rounds of 70, but was
just just four shots behind Washington State's Kristen Allard, who was second
at 145.
Sophomore Kaohi Loo was second among Thunderbirds, in 78th
place at 162, followed by senior Kacy Buckner and freshman Alyssa Ballew in in
89th at 165, and junior Brittany Edwards in 114th at 175.
The tournament concludes with the final round Tuesday.
