CEDAR CITY, Utah – Mar. 20 – Former T-Bird Cameron Levins and 2013-14 Southern Utah signee Mike Tate are set to race as members of the Canadian national team in the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) World Cross Country Championship. The race will take place in Bydgoszcz, Poland, on Sunday.
This race will mark Levins' second trip to the IAAF World Championship, as the Southern Utah alum raced in the 2011 championship held in Punta Umbria, Spain. Levins finished 56th in the senior men's race in 2011, recording a 12,000-meter time of 36:36. He will again compete in the senior men's race, set to begin at 2:10 p.m. local time (6:10 a.m. MDT).
Tate will race in the junior men's 8,000-meter run, which will begin at 12:30 p.m. local time (4:30 a.m. MDT). The Antigonish, Nova Scotia, native earned a place on the Canadian Junior team after a fourth-place finish at the Canadian Junior Cross-Country Championship in November, 2012. He then raced in the North America, Central America and Caribbean Junior Championship on Jan. 26, 2013, where he finished 15th with a 6,000-meters time of 20:07.
Tate signed with Southern Utah on Feb. 11 and will begin his collegiate career with the 2013 cross country season in the fall. He brings personal records of 3:54.05 in the 1,500-meters and 8:23 in the 3,000-meters as well as experience competing at the national and international levels.

Update - Cameron Levins finished 41st in the men's senior race with a 12,000-meter run time of 34:27. Mike Tate finished 78th in the men's junior 8,000-meter run with a time of 24:21.
