MISSOULA, Montana – Southern Utah dropped to the University of Montana back-to-back its double header in the opening day of its three-game University of Montana series, 8-2 and 6-2.

GAME 1

The Grizzlies tacked up two runs in the bottom of the second inning to open the first game before adding four runs in the third to extend their lead to six. Southern Utah entered the fourth inning scoreless before Sara Park reached on an error and Lyndsey Healey smacked a homer over left center to put two Thunderbird runs on the board.

Montana quickly answered with two insurance runs in the bottom of the fourth to regain its six-run advantage. The fifth, sixth, and seventh innings were scoreless as the game concluded for an 8-2 UM victory.

Kylee Wolf, Healey, Kelli Hales, and Ashley Clayson each finished with a hit for Southern Utah in the loss. Healey concluded with the team's two RBIs.

GAME 2

Park knocked a double to left field to get the Thunderbirds rolling to open the second game before Healey singled up the middle to score Park and put SUU up by one. UM answered with four runs in the bottom of the first to pass Southern Utah for a 4-1 lead.

The Grizzlies added a run in the second and a run in the fourth to extend their lead to five.

Wolf homered with two outs in the top of the fifth to put up the last run of the game as the Grizzlies finished on top, 6-2.

Park concluded game two with three hits as Wolf, Healey, and Jordan Theurer added one a piece. Wolf and Healey each finished with an RBI.

After facing UM in the final series game tomorrow at 1 p.m., the Thunderbirds will round out Big Sky play with a three-game series at North Dakota before hosting Northern Colorado for their last home games of the season on May 1 & May 2.
