CEDAR CITY, Utah — Southern Utah University softball head coach Matt Lisle has announced the addition of Staci Chambers to his coaching staff, bringing a decorated collegiate playing career and championship experience to Cedar City.
Chambers joins the Thunderbirds after spending the 2025-26 season on the coaching staff at the University of Toledo. Before beginning her coaching career, Chambers established herself as one of the top pitchers in the Big West Conference at Cal State Fullerton before finishing her playing career in a Women's College World Series run with the University of Oregon.

Her experience as a pitcher at two outstanding programs, along with the championship environments she has been a part of, will be incredibly valuable to our program. She understands what it takes to compete at a high level, and she brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to our student-athletes."
Chambers spent four seasons at Cal State Fullerton from 2020-24, helping the Titans capture two Big West Conference championships. She was named to the 2024 All-Big West First Team following one of the strongest seasons of her career.
During her time at Cal State Fullerton, Chambers compiled a 2.87 career ERA over 219.1 innings, striking out 189 batters while holding opponents to a .245 batting average. She recorded one of the highlights of her collegiate career on Feb. 11, 2024, throwing a seven-inning no-hitter against Colorado State while striking out eight batters.
Chambers transferred to Oregon for the 2025 season, joining a Ducks program that went on to capture the Big Ten Championship and advance to the Women's College World Series.
In her final collegiate season, Chambers posted a 3-0 record with one save. She delivered several important performances during Oregon's postseason run, throwing 4.1 scoreless innings in the NCAA Regional Championship against Stanford before earning the victory against Liberty in the NCAA Super Regionals.
Her experience extends beyond the collegiate field, as Chambers also coached travel and club softball with Breakers Lab, the organization she grew up playing for.
A native of El Cajon, California, Chambers earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Cal State Fullerton and a master's degree in prevention sciences.
Chambers now joins Lisle and the T-Birds as Southern Utah begins a new era with a new staff.
