GRAND FORKS – Southern Utah rounded out its three-game series with North Dakota with an 8-3 victory. The Thunderbirds put up runs in five of seven innings to secure the win.
Lyndsey Healey finished with three hits as Taylor Dumas contributed two. Healey and Dumas each knocked home runs in the win.
Kylee Wolf led off the game with a single to left field before stealing second. Healey singled to score Wolf and take an early first inning lead over North Dakota, 1-0.
Southern Utah tacked a second run in the top of two as Dumas walked before Katie Greenberg singled through the left side to advance Dumas. Tanisha Anderson walked to load the bases before Wolf knocked a sacrifice fly to left field to score Dumas and capture a two-run lead.
The Thunderbirds rallied another three runs in the third as Kaitlin Williams walked and Kelli Hales reached on a fielder's choice before Dumas homered for three runs to clench a 5-0 lead.
North Dakota responded with a home run in the bottom of the third to put up its first run on the board and force a four-run game.
Healey homered to launch the fourth inning before Jordan Theurer singled to left field. Hales reached on a fielder's choice to advance Theurer to second before Dumas grounded out to score Theurer for an RBI.
The T-Birds held a 7-1 lead to enter to fifth before ND nailed two homers to stitch a 7-3 game. Southern Utah rounded out its scoring in the sixth as Anderson grounded out to score Hales for an RBI.
The final inning was scoreless for both teams as Southern Utah took the 8-3 win.
Greenberg, Ashley Ostler, and Hanna Wynn each contribute in the circle for the victory. SUU totaled 10 hits to UND's eight.
The Thunderbirds will conclude Big Sky play by hosting a series with Northern Colorado on May 1 & 2.
