SUU Softball Picked Fifth In Big Sky Poll

Softball SUU Strategic Communication

Hot Start, Slow Finish for SUU Against Idaho State

POCATELLO, Idaho – SUU softball got off to a quick start behind three RBI's from Kylee Wolf but couldn't keep pace with the high-powered offense of Idaho State, falling in five, 14-3.

Wolf started the game in the best way possible with a home run to left field to put the Thunderbirds up 1-0 early. The Bengals would respond in the bottom half of the inning as Big Sky Player of the Year Vicky Galasso would double to right field and score one.

Wolf came up in the top half of the and with the bases loaded, singled down the left field line, scoring two more runs and putting SUU ahead 3-1.

That would be all of the scoring SUU would get in game one of this tournament as the rest of the game belonged to the Bengals. Idaho State scored six runs in the bottom of the second and five runs in the bottom of the fifth to wrap up the victory for the Bengals, 14-3.

Wolf accounted for all three of the SUU runs scored as she finished 2-3 on the day with a home run and three RBI's.

The Thunderbirds now move into the lower bracket where they will face the loser of the Weber State vs. Sacramento State game. That game will be tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. You can find live links on the Thunderbirds website at suutbirds.com.
