OGDEN, Utah (June 26, 2015) - The Big Sky Conference announced the 2014-15 Scholar Athlete Award winners today. The following student athletes were selected by their respective institutions based upon athletic and academic performance during the 2014-15 school year. To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale), be a member of the graduating class and/or have completed their last year of intercollegiate athletic eligibility, have completed at least two years of intercollegiate competition at the institution, and be a letterwinner.
Erin Stone was named the female scholar athlete for SUU. Stone competed in the pole vault for the track and field team this past year and was the class of 2015 valedictorian. Stone matched her career best of 3.40 meters twice this past season. Stone is a biology major.
Sammy Cole was selected as the male scholar athlete. Cole was a staple for the men's golf team this past season, finishing second on the team with a 73.2 scoring average. Cole is an economics major.
