BOULDER CITY, NEVADA -- The top-3 players in the SUU Men's Golf team had a stellar tournament at The Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada, at the Jackrabbits Invitational, which is hosted by South Dakota State.
Braylon Bingham and Uy Doan both finished T8, and Charlie Gillespie came in at T15.
Head Coach Richard Church said
"Yeah the top of our lineup is playing really good golf, we just need to find some depth on the team so we can start competing in these tournaments. But the top-3 are looking really good."
The Thunderbirds
The Thunderbirds were led by Braylon Bingham and Uy Doan, who both finished tied for eighth place with totals of 214 (-2). Bingham opened the tournament with a strong 68 (-4) that included five birdies, and added a 70 (-2) in the final round, while Doan carded rounds of 69, 75, and 70 to match the top-10 finish. Doan and Bingham combined for 22 birdies for the Thunderbirds.
Charlie Gillespie also delivered a solid performance for Southern Utah, finishing tied for 15th at 215 (-1) after posting rounds of 69, 74, and 72. Gillespie used 10 birdies to push himself to a top-20 finish.
Boston Dixon and Colton Cherry rounded out the Thunderbird lineup, finishing at 249 (+33) and 250 (+34), respectively. Luke Barnes also competed as an individual for SUU and finished with a three-round total of 230 (+14).
Southern Utah's opening-round 287 marked the team's best round of the tournament as the Thunderbirds competed against a competitive field at Boulder Creek Golf Club. The strong individual performances from Bingham, Doan, and Gillespie highlighted the week for SUU as the team continues its spring schedule.

The team will be off until March 22-24, when they will head to historic Torrey Pines Golf Course for the UC San Diego Invitational.
