Box Score FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The SUU soccer team played their final game of the 2016 regular season Friday night under the lights against the Lumberjacks of Northern Arizona. NAU was able to come away with a 3-0 win and clinch a spot in the Big Sky Soccer Tournament as the number three seed.
The Lumberjacks scored early on a goal from forward Lindsay Doyle in just the fifth minute. It was all Lumberjacks from there as they would score once more in the first half on a goal from forward Ali Lixandru and for a third time in the 52nd minute when defender Riley Porter was able to find the back of the net.
The Thunderbirds were outshot 14-9 on the night. Even though she allowed three goals, goalkeeper Destiny Collins was still able to come away with seven saves, her second-highest number of stops in one game this season.
The Thunderbirds end their 2016 season with a 3-12-2 overall record and will take 10th place in the Big Sky conference with a 2-7-1 conference record.
