Demario Warren was introduced on January 11, 2016 as the new Head Coach of the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds football team.  Director of Athletics Jason Butikofer was excited to announce the results of his national search for a new coach to replace Ed Lamb resulted in the selection of the T-Birds' defensive coordinator.

Warren, has spent the past eight seasons with Southern Utah University, the last two serving as the defensive coordinator for one of the top defensive units in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). During his tenure, Coach Warren developed four draft rated prospects in first-team All-American, James Cowser, Miles Killebrew, LeShaun Sims and Dion Turner. Warren has had 18 All-Conference performers in eight years, including nine out of eleven defensive players earning All Big-Sky honors during the 2015 Big Sky Championship season.

Ryan Hunt is in his 10th year on the Thunderbird staff and his ninth as a full-time member after serving the 2004 season as a student-assistant. Coach Hunt has worked with the offensive and defensive lines, with the last five spent on the defensive side of the ball.

A 2005 SUU graduate, Coach Walterscheid returned to join the Thunderbird staff in 2010, taking over as the program's running backs and receivers coach. He later added co-special teams coordinator to his resume, as he took on kickoff and punt return teams duties but this season he takes on the role of offensive coordinator while he will continue to mentor the running backs.

Solomona Tapasa was hired by new Head Coach Demario Warren to be a Co-Defensive Coordinator and take over the linebacker responsibilities.Tapasa comes to SUU from the Hornets of Sacramento State where he served as defensive line coach.

Teag Whiting is in his fifth season as a member of the Thunderbird staff, his fourth in a full-time capacity. After serving as a graduate assistant with the Thunderbird offensive line in 2009, Coach Whiting took over as O-line coach in the spring of 2010.

Aaron Fernandez is in his fifth season as a member of the Thunderbird staff, his fourth as a full-time assistant. After working with the defense the past four years Coach Fernandez will coach the tight ends and coordinate special teams this year. He also moved from assistant recruiting coordinator to recruiting coordinator this past winter.

Jared Ursua has joined the SUU football coaching staff as the wide receivers coach after spending a year as the director of football operations. 

Sam Elliott has joined the SUU football coaching staff as the running backs coach.

Tommy Collet Jr. joined the Thunderbird football coaching staff in 2015 under then Head Coach Ed Lamb. Collet served as an Assistant Coach over the safeties in 2015 and expands his role to Safeties and Recruiting Coordinator in 2016.

Rod Chance joined the Thunderbird football staff under this year under new Head Coach Demario Warren. Chance will be the defensivebacks coach as well as the recruiting coordinator.

Anthony Arceneaux was named Special Teams Coordinator by Head Coach Demario Warren in March 2016.

Jeff Tukuafu was hired as the Director of Football Operations in March of 2016.

Will Greenberg was hired as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Southern Utah Athletics in March of 2016. Greenberg spent the last two seasons at Army West Point where he was the assistant strength and conditioning coach. In his first season, Greenberg helped the Black Knights' add 1,900 pounds during an off-season that focused on proper nutrition, fundamentals and form.

Marcus Romero was named the Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning by Director Jeff Butler in March of 2015. Romero previously served as an Assistant Strength Coach where his responsibilities were soccer, track and field and cross country.

Justin Hugie has joined the SUU football coaching staff as the video coordinator.
