Box Score OREM, Utah - The SUU soccer team traveled to Orem Friday night to take on the Utah Valley Wolverines in a game that resulted in a 2-0 loss for the Thunderbirds. Coach Hogan was still proud of the way the team played saying,
“I thought the team played a very good game. We came in with a flawed game plan for which I take full responsibility. Midway through the first half we made an adjustment and from then on out we negated the tactical advantage that UVU had.”
The Wolverines would be the first to score in the game when midfielder Abby Jameson put one past sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Caldera in the 24th minute assisted by defender Kalli Suesue.
Neither team would be able to score until the 89th minute when forward Alexis Peterson sealed the deal for UVU with their second goal of the game assisted by defender Tara Furlong and midfielder Breanna DeWaal.
The Thunderbirds will play two games next weekend, the first of which will be next Friday against UC Riverside in California before returning home to face UNLV on Sunday.
“Being 0-2 is not a tale of this team. Those who judge us by that stat line are making a grave mistake. This team is battle tested and ready for a breakout game from which we will not look back,” coach Hogan stated.
