Newcomers Break Into The Thunderbird Record Book In Provo

PROVO, Utah - A pair of young Thunderbirds both made strong debuts at the BYU Indoor Invitational on Thursday and Friday, making an immediate impact both at the meet and in the SUU record book.

Freshman jumper Jentry Skidmore finished the women's long jump with a mark of 17' 7'', which put her in second place at the meet. The mark also put her seventh all-time in the SUU record book.

In his first meet as a T-Bird, Erik Ostrom took third place in the men's heptathlon with a final score of 4,528. This is also the seventh best mark in school history in the event.

In the women's triple jump, Celia Halpin finished in third place with a 34' 5'' jump.

The T-Birds will next be in action at the Snake River Open, which will run from January 12-13 in Pocatello, Idaho.
