Bronis MacDougall Secures WAC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

| By:

CEDAR CITY, Utah — Southern Utah senior Bronis MacDougall was named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.

Head Coach Eric Houle Said

"Bronis is one of our all-time top javelin throwers. It's a pleasure to have him in the program, and the competitive spirit he brings makes all of us better."

MacDougall Makes Early-Season Statement

MacDougall earned the honor after a dominant performance at the Utah Tech Invitational, where he won the javelin with a throw of 66.16 meters (217-0). His mark not only secured a first-place finish but also moved him to No. 4 all-time in Southern Utah program history.

The performance highlights a strong opening weekend for the Thunderbirds, as MacDougall led the men's throws group with one of the top marks in the conference early in the outdoor season. His throw also positioned him among the early WAC leaders and added momentum for the team heading into the next stretch of competition.

This marks the first WAC weekly honor of the season for MacDougall and the first award for the Thunderbirds this year.

Southern Utah will return to action at the UVU Collegiate Invite in Orem, Utah, on March 26, as the team looks to continue building on its early-season success.
