CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Thunderbird track and field teams ended a weekend of competition in California on Saturday, with athletes competing at the Long Beach Invitational hosted by Long Beach State.

SUU's 4x100 team had a solid race for the second day in a row, setting a new season-best on Saturday with a 41.22. The group of Tre James, Justin Lewis, Novell Reid and Inoa Wahinehookae finished sixth overall at the event.

Devon Montgomery had a solid day as well, running a season-best time in the men's 400-meter hurdles of 52.98. That time put him sixth overall at the meet as well.

In the men's discus SUU senior Jayson Kovar finished sixth in the field with a throw of 184'.

In the women's 400-meter dash freshman Peyton Green set a season-best and a personal best with a time of 56.33. She finished third in her section. Green also set a season-best in the 200-meter dash with a 25.08.

The women's sprints team had two other new season-best times, with Mia Russell (12.27) and Bobbi Lynn Parker (12.38) both showing well in the 100-meter dash.

Madison Cook ran the fastest time she's ever hit in the 400-meter hurdles in Long Beach, setting a time of 64.67.

The Thunderbirds will now take a week away from competition before returning to action at the BYU Robison Invitational in Provo and the Steve Scott Invitational in Irvine, California.
