Lady T-Birds Drop Road Match to Vandals In Moscow

Box Score

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Southern Utah University women's basketball team was on the road for the second consecutive game Thursday night as they took on the Idaho Vandals. The Lady T-Birds could not overcome hot shooting and strong rebounding from the Vandals, losing the game 74-51.

The Vandals wasted no time jumping out in front as they put up 21 points in the first quarter to the Thunderbirds' 13. The Thunderbirds trailed at the half 39-27.

Southern Utah was held to just 24 points in the second half as they could not find a way to penetrate the Vandals' defense.

Bre Reid and Rebecca Cardenas led the attack for the T-Birds once again as Reid scored 13 points and Cardenas had 11. Reid added four steals and Cardenas picked up five rebounds.

Idaho's Geraldine McCorkell was the leading scorer in the game with 25 points and was one of three Vandals to post a double-double.

The Thunderbirds will return to the court Saturday in Cheney, Washington against the Eastern Washington Eagles. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m. Mountain time (2:00 p.m. Pacific).
