MANSFIELD, Texas -- The Thunderbird women's golf team are in the the midst of their final Fall Season tournament at the UT Arlington Invitational, and freshman Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan is leading the charge for SUU in a tie for first with 18 holes to play.  

Yongyuan is tied with with Arkansas State's Olivia Schmidt for the top spot at the event, shooting a 72 in the opening round and following that up with a 74 in the second round of play to end the day at 146. Yongyuan will enter Tuesday's final round seeking her second career win and her fourth-straight top-five finish.  

Sitting second for the Thunderbirds is Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong, who finished the day in a tie for 12th on the leaderboard. She shot a 78 to start the day and followed that up with a 74 to card a two-round 152.

Kyla Smith is third for SUU and 22nd overall with a 155 (76, 79). One shot behind Smith is Launa Wilson, who carded a 156 (79, 77). Rounding out SUU's scoring team was Lindsay Aleman, who finished 46th in the field shooting a 169 (84, 85).

As a team the T-Birds shot a 305 in the opening round and a 304 in the second to end the day at 609, placing them third in the field. They are 14 shots behind Arkansas State, who shot 595 (301, 294) on Monday to take the team lead heading into the final round.

Southern Utah has three individuals competing in Texas as well. Tori Thomas was the top individual for the T-Birds, carding a 161 (80, 81). Lexi Hamel carded a 168 (82, 86) and Averi Stover shot a 201 (105, 96).
