CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah softball team returns home after two straight weekends on the road to host the Utah Valley Wolverines for a doubleheader at Dixie State's Karl Brooks Field Sunday February 25.
Last Time Out
Last week the Thunderbirds competed in the Purple & Gold Challenge hosted by LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The team saw some of the top talent in the country including the No. 7 ranked Tigers and the Oregon State Beavers. The T-Birds also played Central Arkansas and two games against Louisiana Tech.
Ten games into her freshman season, Taylei Williams is hitting .345 in 29 at-bats with two doubles and six RBIs. Samantha Guile has pitched 24 innings for the Thunderbirds with three complete games under her belt already.
Scouting Report: Utah Valley Wolverines (1-4)
The Wolverines last took the field at the UNLV Sportco Kickoff Classic in the first week of the 2018 season. They came away with just one win at the tournament, a 8-2 win over the Thunderbirds.
Basia Query was the hottest hitter for the Wolverines in Las Vegas, hitting .467 in the tournament. The sophomore had three doubles and was 4-4 against the T-Birds. Addie Jensen has been the workhorse in the circle for UVU, pitching 21.2 innings in three starts and coming away with an ERA of 2.26.

Sunday's doubleheader will be a Hodgkin's Lymphoma Awareness game. Both teams will be wearing special uniforms for the doubleheader that will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the event. Admission to the event will be free, but fans are encouraged to make a donation at the gate. All proceeds from the auction and donations will go to the Hodgkin's Lymphoma Foundation.
First pitch at Karl Brooks Field is set for 1:00 p.m. Mountain time. A live stream will not be available, but link to live stats for both games can be found at suutbirds.com.
