Box Score CEDAR CITY, Utah - In their final regular season contest of the 2017-18 campaign, the Thunderbirds fell to the Idaho Vandals 65-57.
It was Senior Night for the Thunderbirds, and the T-Birds honored just one senior before the contest as Whitney Johnson played her final game in the America First Event Center.
Johnson had a big game for the T-Birds, leading the team with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting. She also finished with a double-double, pulling in 12 rebounds.
The Thunderbirds got out to a big lead, and finished the first quarter with a 18-9 advantage. The Vandals responded, however, outscoring the T-Birds 18-9 in the second quarter and the teams went into the break tied.
The Vandals pulled away in the third quarter, and despite a late push from the T-Birds they secured a victory in Cedar City.
Larsen finished with 11 and 11 for the Thunderbirds, in scoring and rebounding respectively.
Mikayla Ferenz led the charge for the Vandals, scoring 22 points in 40 minutes of play. Â Â
The Lady T-Birds will now look ahead to the Big Sky Conference Championship Tournament. They will enter as the No. 12 seed in the tournament. Their first game of the tournament will take place on Monday March 5 against the fifth-seeded Idaho State Bengals at 3:35 p.m. Mountain time.
