RECAP | Outdoor Season for T-Bird T&F Continues To Be Strong
CEDAR CITY, Utah -- This weekend, the Thunderbirds had a four way split between meets for the track and field team. Despite the team being divided between Texas and California, the T-Birds performed well in all meets.
Texas State Bobcat Invite
Competing at the Texas State Bobcat Invite, Lacey Hochhalter had an impressive performance for the Thunderbirds. Hochhalter competed in the women's javelin where she threw a mark of 136' 1" placing her seventh in SUU history.
Amy Pouliot and Ogochukwu Nwachukwu competed in the discus throw where they placed 6th and 7th in the competition. Pouliot threw a mark of 141' 3" and Nwachukwu threw a mark of 141' 2". Nwachukwu also competed in the hammer where she took sixth with a throw of 160' 1".
On the men's side, Jordan Porcaro had a huge throw in the hammer. Porcaro threw a mark of 183' 7" placed him second in Big Sky rankings and sixth in SUU history. This mark also landed him first in his flight.
Devon Montgomery competed in the 110-meter hurdles where he ran a time of 14.45. This time placed him fifth in the competition.
Several other athletes improved their performances by finishing with personal bests. Oman Gatoloai also competed in the hammer with a throw of 152' 8". Kassie Neiwert competed with a personal best in the hammer with a throw of 144' 6" as well.
Texas Relays
At the Texas Relays, Tre James made his outdoor debut running in the 100-meter. James ran a time of 10.37 placing second in his heat and 11th overall.
Also competing at the Texas Relays for the men was Frank Harris III. Harris competed in the high jump where he landed a mark of 6' 10". This mark placed him first in his section of the competition.
San Francisco State Distance Carnival
In San Francisco, Alison Pray made her debut in the 5,000-meter. During this event, Pray ran a time of 17:32 winning her heat. She also ran in the 1,500-meter where she finished with a personal best of 4:44.
Several other women had personal bests competing in the 1,500-meter. Maddie Kauffman ran a time of 4:32 and was followed closely by Madison Fruchey. Fruchey ran a time of 4:35. Morgan Vorwaller also followed with a time of 4:46.
In the men's 5,000-meter Aidan Reed ran a time of 14:31 winning his heat and placing 19th in the competition. Nate Osterstock also placed first in his heat with a time of 14:37.
Stanford Invite
At the Stanford Invite, Sharlie Dimick ran in the 1,500-meter where she ran a time of 4:28.85 placing her seventh in her heat.
Angie Nickerson ran in the 5,000-meter at Stanford. She ran a time of 16:39.41 placing her ahead of her heat.
