RECAP | Thunderbird T&F Start Out Weekend in California With Top Performances
CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird track and field team has started out their weekend strong with top performances at meets in California. This far the Thunderbirds have competed in the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. Sac Relays.
Bryan Clay Invitational
On Thursday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Michael Finch started the competition strong. He competed in the steeplechase and finished with a time of 9:07.50. Finch broke into the school records with this time and also placed first in his heat.
Morgan Porcaro battled to the finish line in the steeplechase. Porcaro finished with a time of 10:34.02 placing her ahead of her heat. This time also placed her second in SUU history.
The competition continued this morning in Azusa. Nate Osterstock and Christian Ricketts started out the competition in the 1,500-meter. Osterstock finished with a personal best of 3:57.12 placing him ahead of his heat. He was followed by Ricketts with a time of 3:57.33.
The competition continued to be tough when the men competed in the 4x100. Bradley Earl, Tre James, Frank Harris III and Novell Reid lead the competition finishing with a time of 41.30 winning the heat.
Mt. Sac Relays
At the Mt. Sac Relays, Aidan Reed started out the competition. Reed ran a time of 29.31.01 in the 10,000-meter placing third in his heat. His time also ranks him seventh in SUU records.
Angie Nickerson competed next with an epic performance in the 10,000-meter. Nickerson ran a school record time of 33:34.47. She was followed by Madison Fruchey who finished with a time of 34:19.27. Fruchey's time ranks her third in school history.
Mike Tate finished the competition for the night in the 10,000-meter. Tate ran a time of 29:09.03 placing him sixth in school history.

The rest of the events will be taking place through Saturday, April 21 at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Mt. Sac Relays, Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, and the Beach Invitational.
