RECAP | Thunderbirds T&F Finish Strong at BYU and UC Irvine
CEDAR CITY, Utah -- This weekend the Thunderbird track and field team finished the competition strong at the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine and the BYU Robinson Invite. Several athletes finished with high rankings in the Big Sky and in school history.
BYU Robinson Invite
At the BYU Robinson Invite, several athletes excelled for the Thunderbirds.
Jentry Skidmore started the competition for the T-Birds when she competed in the heptathlon. Skidmore finished third in the competition with a score of 4,579. This score also places her sixth in SUU history.
Eric Ostrom also competed in the heptathlon where he finished second in the competition. Ostrom's score of 6,205 also ranks him third in the Big Sky Conference.
Jordan Porcaro competed in the hammer where he improved on his personal best. Porcaro threw a mark of 187' 1 ¾" moving him to fifth in school records. This throw placed him second in the competition as well.
In the women's hammer,
Ogochukwu Nwachukwu threw a personal best of 177' 3 ?" placing her sixth in school history and seventh in the Big Sky Conference. Nwachukwu's throw also placed her second at the invite.
Lauren Emter also made her way into school records this weekend. Emter competed in the shot put where she finished with a mark of 45' 2" placing her seventh in SUU records.
The strong performances did not stop there.
Amy Pouliot had a huge performance in the discus where she improved on her personal best for the second time this weekend. She finished the competition with a mark of 152' 0" placing her sixth in school records and fourth in Big Sky rankings.
Steve Scott Invitational
At the Steve Scott Invitational,
Jason Quinn competed in the 1,500-meter where he finished with a time of 3:52.09 placing him fourth in the competition. He was followed by
Liam Kennell and
Nate Osterstock.
Sharlie Dimick competed in the 5,000-meter where she finished third in the competition with a time of 17:14.76.
Carly Dalton and
Devon Montgomery finished with personal bests in the 110-meter hurdles. Dalton finished with a time of 14.87 and Montgomery finished with a time of 14.21.
Two T-Birds also finished with personal bests in the 200-meter.
Inoa Wahinehookae ran a time of 21.85.
Mia Russell also competed in the 200-meter where she finished with a personal best of 24.43. This time also ranks her fourth all time in the school records.
Laura Kehr first in her heat when she finished with a time of 56.96 in the 400-meter.
