POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Southern Utah Thunderbird men's and women's cross country teams fell short by just a few points to Idaho State this weekend. The teams did not run their top athletes, but they still came close to a victory.
The men's team placed just one point behind Idaho State.
Michael Finch crossed the finish line second with a time of 21:15.0 in the 6K.
Thomas Grant took fourth place with a time of 21:45.7. He was followed by
Sage Ducote and
Mark Bennett.
Samantha Taylor was the first to cross the finish line for the women's team. Taylor placed third in the 6K with a time of 25:23.2.
Haley Tanne and
Brighton Glassman followed.
The women finished just ten points behind Idaho State.
"Considering that we didn't race our top team this weekend, I am pretty pleased with this meet," commented head coach
Eric Houle. "The athletes had some great performances and to come that close is something I am proud of."
