CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team will look to finish up a three-game road stretch this weekend, taking on the Omaha Mavericks on Saturday September 8 in Nebraska.

The Thunderbirds are coming off of a tough weekend on the road last weekend as they lost to CSU Bakersfield 0-1 and Boise State 0-3.

"Right now I think we are ahead of where we were last year, but we still have a lot to work on. We still have some tough competition as we get ready for conference play and I think conference could be really good for us," head coach Fred Thompson said. "Everyday I'm learning something about the team and we've got three more games to help them in their growth and their direction to get them closer to where we need to be."

Brianna Aldridge continues to lead the Big Sky Conference in saves with 37 in six games in goal for an average of 6.17 saves per game. Devri Hartle leads the Thunderbirds in points on the season with five total points (two goals, one assist).

Scouting Report: Omaha Mavericks (1-4-1)

The Mavericks will come into the weekend with a 1-4-1 record on the 2018 season. Last weekend they picked up their first win of the season, a 1-0 shutout of Green Bay at home. Andrea Daves scored the lone goal and Emily Romero picked up the assist in the win.

Daves and freshman Brylie Meyer are the only Mavs to have scored so far this season with Meyer getting her goal in a 1-1 tie with Arkansas State on August 19.

This will be the first meeting between the two programs since Southern Utah joined the Big Sky Conference.
