CEDAR CITY, Utah -- Kasey Knvelbaard claimed the Big Sky Athlete of the Week award along with Angie Nickerson after a big performance at the University of Washington.
Knevelbaard competed in the mile where he finished second overall with a time of 3:58.54. This time also ranked Knevelbaard second in the NCAA.
This is also Knevelbaard's first Big Sky Athlete of the Week award this season. Over the course of his career, Knevelbaard has been nominated Big Sky Athlete of the Week seven times. The senior athlete has also claimed five conference championship titles and competed at three NCAA National Championships.
Knevelbaard was also named an All-American athlete when he finished fifth in the mile at the 2018 Indoor NCAA Championships.
"Having athletes who are competitive on a national level at a school this size is an honor as a coach," commented head coach Eric Houle. "Out of over a thousand athletes who compete in the NCAA, we have some of the top athletes at this school. It is amazing to train and watch them grow."
