CEDAR CITY, Utah -- The Thunderbird soccer program will be back on the road this weekend to take on the Eagles of Eastern Washington on Friday and the Vandals of Idaho on Sunday.
Last Time Out
The T-Birds are coming off earning their first point of the Big Sky season last weekend, as they drew with the Montana Grizzlies.Â
Goalkeeper Isabella Whitmore made 12 saves in the match, keeping the Grizzlies off the board for the full 110 minutes of play. MaKenzie Lawrence took three shots, two on goal, while Madison DeHerrera and Jaylynn Barton took two shots each.
The Grizzlies outshot the Thunderbirds 22-10 while SUU only committed four fouls to Montana's 13.
The Thunderbirds had their best opportunity in the 39th minute of play when Lawrence was fouled in the box by a Montana player and was awarded a penalty kick. Lawrence sent her kick to the right side of the goal, but Montana's goalkeeper was able to get a hand on the ball and make the save.
Scouting Report: Eastern Washington Eagles (6-5-2, 3-0-1 Big Sky)Â
The Eagles of Eastern Washington have won three straight matches and have not suffered a loss in Big Sky Conference play to this point of the season.Â
EWU's Sariah Keister leads the team in scoring with 10 points on five goals so far this season. She has had 17 total shots on goal.Â
Kelse Winston has been the primary goal keeper for EWU, and has 48 saves to this point of the season.Â
Scouting Report: Idaho Vandals (3-10-2, 0-3-2 Big Sky)
The Vandals of Idaho will enter the weekend seeking their first Big Sky victory of the season. The will host the NAU Lumberjacks before they take the field against the Thunderbirds. Â
Maddie Haas leads the Vandals in points with three goals and two assists so far this season. She's knocked home those goals with only seven shots on goal this year.Â
Avrie Fox has started the majority of contests for Idaho and has 39 saves so far this season.Â
