Lawrence Scores Twice as Thunderbirds Fall to Vikings On the Road

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Southern Utah soccer team dropped their first match of the weekend to the Portland State Vikings 3-2 in Oregon.

MaKenzie Lawrence scored the first goal of the game for either team in the 30th minute. The senior took a cross from Allyson Carlisle and put it right past the diving PSU goalkeeper.

The Vikings answered back in the 34th minute with a goal of their own to tie things up.

Portland State took the lead early in the second half with another goal in the 49th minute from Rilee Castilla. They scored again in the 59th minute to make it 3-1.

Lawrence scored again in the 84th minute to bring the Thunderbirds back within one goal late. Her second goal of the game gave her four goals in her last four games and 16 for her career, which is just four shy of the Southern Utah all-time record.

The Thunderbirds will now head down the coast to Sacramento, California for a matchup with Sacramento State on Sunday.
