CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team will host their first Big Sky matches this weekend when the Northern Colorado Bears and Montana Grizzlies come to town on Friday October 11 and Sunday October 13.

Last Time Out

The Thunderbirds took on two west coast Big Sky teams last weekend, losing to Portland State 3-2 and Sacramento State 3-0.

MaKenzie Lawrence scored both goals in the PSU game, giving her four goals on the season, which has the senior tied for fifth in the Big Sky.

Lawrence now has 16 goals in her career as a Thunderbird which brings her just four goals shy of the all-time record of 20.

Scouting Report: Northern Colorado Bears (4-8-3, 2-0-2 BSC)

The Bears are one of four unbeaten teams during Big Sky play having picked up wins over Idaho State and Weber State and draws with Eastern Washington and Idaho.

Olivia Seddon leads the Bears in scoring with three goals and she also has an assist on the season. Three other Bears have scored two goals and nine Bears in total have scored goals. 

The Bears came out on top 3-1 last season in Greeley.

Scouting Report: Montana Grizzlies (4-5-3, 3-0-0 BSC)

The Grizzlies come into the weekend as the top team in the Big Sky after two weeks of conference play. Montana has picked up three straight one-goal wins over Idaho, Weber State, and Idaho State.

Junior Alexa Coyle and sophomore McKenzie Kilpatrick lead the team in goal scoring, both having scored two goals on the season. Redshirt junior Claire Howard has started every game in goal for the Grizzlies and is second in the Big Sky in goals against average with a 1.03.

The Grizzlies will play Northern Arizona on Friday before coming to Cedar City on Sunday.
