SALT LAKE CITY, Utah -- The Southern Utah University Thunderbirds competed at the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships on November 15 where both the men and women placed eighth.
Alison Pray was the first woman to cross the line for the Thunderbirds locking in a sixth place finish timing 20:06.0 in the 6K. This time qualifies the junior athlete for the NCAA National Championships on November 23. This will be Pray's second time competing at the National Championships.
Pray last competed at the Big Sky Championships where she finished third witha time of 18:15.9 in the 5K. Pray also holds the fifth best time in the 3,000-meter in SUU records timing 9:40.37 as well as the sixth best time in the mile with a time of 4:49.9.
Madison Fruchey followed with a time of 21:17.4 in 49th place. Harley Taylor (21:41.7), Josie Bushar (21:48.4) and Haley Tanne (21:52.6) also competed for the T-Birds.Â
On the men's side of the team, Sean Newcomb was the first to finish with a time of 31:19.5 in the 10K. This time locked in a 27th place finish for the senior athlete. Newcomb was followed by Christian Ricketts with a time of 31:22.7 trailing in 29th place.
Nate Osterstock crossed the finish line 33rd with a time of 31:34.0.
Jason Quinn (32:28.2), Thomas Grant (33:24.7) and Max Spence (33:29.2) finished the race for the Thunderbirds.
