GREELEY, Colo. -- The Southern Utah University Thunderbird cross country teams competed at the Big Sky Championships on November 2 where the women took third and the men placed fourth. Northern Arizona University swept both men's and women's championship titles.
Alison Pray was the first woman to cross the finish line for the Thunderbirds with a third place finish timing 18:15.9 in the 5K. Madison Fruchey followed in 11th with a time of 18:44.1 and Harley Taylor in 22nd with a time of 19:15.8.
Raquel Chavez (19:25.3) and Samantha Taylor (19:25.5) trailed finishing 28th and 29th.Â
Josie Bushar (20:03.2), Maddy Francis (20:32.1) and Haley Tanne (20:36.9) finished out the race for the Thunderbirds.
On the men's side of the team, Sean Newcomb was the first to cross the finish line for the T-Birds with a 14th place finish. Newcomb clocked in a time of 27:33.0 in the 8K.
Christian Ricketts (27:40.4) and Nate Osterstock (27:43.6) followed in 16th and 17th.Â
Jason Quinn (28:25.6), Thomas Grant (28:31.9) and Jacob Francis (28:54.0) also competed for the T-Birds at the Big Sky Championships.
