BOISE, Idaho -- Following a First Round victory over the No. 10 seeded Bengals of Idaho State, the No. 7 seeded Thunderbirds of Southern Utah will continue play on Thursday evening as they'll take on the No. 2 seeded Bears of Northern Colorado.
Tournament Success
In three seasons as the head coach of the T-Birds, Todd Simon is now 4-2 in the Big Sky Tournament and has never failed to get out of the First Round of competition.
During the 2016-17 postseason run, the T-Birds were propelled to a triple overtime victory over the Montana State Bobcats. Randy Onwuasor scored a Big Sky Tournament record 42 points in the contest to propel the T-Birds to their first ever win in the Big Sky postseason bracket.
In 2017-18 the T-Birds knocked off Idaho State before being pitted against the No. 2 seeded Idaho Vandals and knocking them off 92-78. That campaign came to a close in the Semifinals of the Big Sky tournament against the Eastern Washington Eagles.
