CORNVILLE, Ariz. -- The Thunderbird women's golf team found success on the course Saturday at the 2019 Red Rocks Invitational.
Chanikan (Pluem) Yongyuan will enter the final day in a tie for second on the leaderboard after shooting a 136, carding a four-under 67 in the first round and a two-under 69 in the second of the day. She's tied with one other golfer, and is just one stroke behind Delaney Elliot from Montana State, who shot a 135. Â
Launa Wilson was second for the Thunderbirds on the day, carding a 146 (75, 71). That score puts her in a tie for 27th on the leaderboard heading into the final round on Sunday. Kamonwan (Poy) Prasurtwong ended the day one shot behind Wilson, carding a 147 (76, 71).
Kyla Smith (150) and Tori Thomas (153) wrapped up the scoring lineup for the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
The T-Birds are in third place as a team entering the third round, shooting a 574 (285, 289) and sitting behind only Gonzaga (569) and Cal State Fullerton (573).
Lindsay Aleman (147) and Lexi Hamel (163) played as individuals for the Thunderbirds in the Grand Canyon State.
The third and final round at Agave Highlands will be played on Sunday
