CEDAR CITY, Utah - After being rained out of three of their five games at the Red Desert Classic last weekend, the Southern Utah softball team will host Utah Valley for a doubleheader in St. George at the Canyons Softball Complex.
Last Time Out
The Thunderbirds were able to get two games in on the first day of the Red Desert Classic, but couldn't pick up a win as they lost 5-11 to CSU Bakersfield and 1-5 to then-ranked No. 24 Baylor.
Kendall Kapitzke and Samantha Guerra had two hits each on the day, with all four coming against the Roadrunners. Guerra had two RBIs in the game and Kapitzke picked up one and scored a run. Mikelle Magalogo also hit her first home run as a Thunderbird.
The T-Birds are now 1-9 on the young season.
Scouting Report: Utah Valley Wolverines (4-8)
The Wolverines also had three of their games rained out at the Red Desert Classic last weekend. The two games they got to play ended in a 16-0 loss to Notre Dame and a 4-3 win over Saint Mary's College.
Peyton Angulo leads the Wolverines offensively, hitting .586 through 29 at-bats. The sophomore has six doubles, five RBIs and has scored 10 runs, while striking out just once during that time.
The Thunderbirds and the Wolverines matched up once this season already, at the UNLV Marucci Desert Classic. Utah Valley came out on top in that one 10-3.
