Softball to Host Cougars Before Three-Game Series With Wildcats In Ogden

CEDAR CITY, Utah - The Southern Utah softball team will play four games this week against in-state rivals with a single game against BYU on Tuesday April 2 at home and a Big Sky Conference series against Weber State on Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6  in Ogden.

Last Time Out

Kendall Kapitzke went a combined 6-for-7 over the two games, with a home run and a double in the first game. She also collected three RBIs and scored twice. Madison Tuft went 5-for-7 and scored a run in game two. She extended her current on-base streak to 18 games.

Dream Weaver had three hits on the day, with at least one in each game to extend her hitting streak to 12 games.

Scouting Report: BYU Cougars (13-18)

Tuesday's game will be the final non-conference tune-up for the Cougars before starting WCC conference play this weekend against Loyola Marymount.

They are coming off of six straight road games last week, finishing the week 3-3. The Cougars swept a doubleheader with Utah Valley, split a doubleheader with UTSA, and were swept in another doubleheader with Texas A&M.

Rylee Jensen leads the team offensively with a .387 batting average in 93 at-bats and Autumn Moffat leads the pitching staff with a 2.81 ERA and a 6-10 record in 19 appearances.

Scouting Report: Weber State Wildcats (12-17, 4-0 BSC)

The Wildcats are currently in the midst of a five-game winning streak including doubleheader sweeps of Northern Colorado and Sacramento State and a win over the University of Utah.

Takesha Saltern continues to lead the Wildcats offensively with a .418 batting average in 91 at-bats. She also had 11 stolen bases and three triples on the season. Tatiana Su'esu'e is the main arm in the circle for WSU, carrying a 5.17 ERA and a 5-8 record in 20 appearances.

The Wildcats took two out of three games in last season's series in Cedar City.

Game Info

Tuesday's game in Cedar City against the Cougars is set to start at 3:00 p.m. at Kathryn Berg Field. The game will be streamed live on PlutoTV channel 236 and live stats will be available at tbirdstats.com.

Friday's doubleheader against the Wildcats in Ogden is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's series finale will begin at noon. All games will be streamed live on watchbigsky.com and live stats will be available at weberstatesports.com.
