Thunderbirds Shut Out by No. 14 BYU In Provo

PROVO, Utah - The Southern Utah soccer team fell to the No. 14 ranked BYU Cougars 7-0  Friday night on the road.

"Obviously BYU is a great team, well coached, and very talented. Playing a team of this caliber will serve us well later in the season and we were happy to have all of our players experience it," head coach Fred Thompson said. "Now we'll get ourselves back together and prepare for California Baptist on Sunday."

The Thunderbirds were able to hold the Cougars to just two goals in the first half, but then the BYU offense exploded for five second-half goals. Cougars Elise Flake and Ashton Brockbank both scored two goals in the game.

Not only were the T-Birds kept off the scoreboard, they were also held to zero shots on the night.

The Thunderbirds will return home for their first home match on Sunday when they host CBU at 1:00 p.m.
